The National Integrity Authority (ANI) issued a finding act on the name of the former mayor of Negureni village, district Telenesti.
During the control, the integrity inspector established that, between January 2012 and January 2019, during the term of office of mayor, the former local elected official and family members made a substantial difference, in the amount of over 900 thousand lei of the acquired wealth and revenues.
According to the accumulated evidence, it was found that the former mayor together with the family members made a net income of about 1 million 174 thousand lei, resulting from money transfers, the Mercedes E250 car sale at the amount of 100 thousand lei, the sale of real estate, at the total price of approximately 255 thousand lei, the loan agreements, based on which he raised financial means from 60 thousand lei to 80 thousand lei, salaries, etc.
During the verifications, the integrity inspector obtained documents confirming that, in the same period, the former mayor together with his family incurred expenses in the total amount of over 2 million lei, which substantially exceeds the amount of income obtained. This amount was spent for the purchase of an apartment of over 756 thousand lei, the purchase of over 400 real estate in a total amount of about 788 thousand lei, financial deposits in bank accounts, the purchase of a Mercedes Sprinter car in the amount of 10 thousand lei , of a Volkswagen Crafter at a price of 10 thousand lei, of a Mercedes E250 at a price of 20 thousand lei, as well as the payment of some services, etc.
Thus, from the evidence obtained, the integrity inspector showed that, between the acquired wealth and the income earned by the former mayor, his wife, as well as the dependents, there is a difference of over 900 thousand lei, undeclared and unjustified amount, obtained during exercise of mayoral mandates.
During the control, the Authority requested the subject's point of view and ask him to include its statements in the finding act, but he did not respond.
According to the procedures, the integrity inspector will send this case to the court for ordering the confiscation of the unjustified property.
If ANI’s finding act will remain final, the subject risks to hold no longer a public office or a position of public dignity and also the office of mayor for a period of three years, being also registered in the Register of Prohibitions of ANI.
NOTE - The subject is presumed to be innocent until his guilt is established by a final court’s decision.
