In the week of June 14-18, 2021, the National Integrity Authority (ANI) initiated nine wealth control procedures on ex officio notifications based on journalistic investigations. The controls include three secretaries of state, two prosecutors of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, a director of an administrative institution subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), two heads of department within the MIA and a deputy head of an institution subordinated to the Ministry of Justice.
A deputy mayor of the south of the country is the subject of a control procedure, which was initiated for a possible conflict of interest admitted in office.
During the reporting period, the integrity inspectors found four conflicts of interest admitted by a city mayor from the southeast of the republic, who is also targeted in a contravention case initiated for not resolving the conflict. Another mayor from Cimișlia district was established with a conflict of interest, as well as the director of a sports school subordinated to the Chisinau City Council and a director of a boarding school.
One of the secretaries of state targeted in the control of assets and two councilors from the Council of Bălți Municipality risk being fined for late submission or non-submission of declarations of assets and personal interests.
Five subjects have already been fined for violating the rules for submitting declarations of assets and personal interests and for conflicts of interest. It is regarding the director of a Vocational School in the capital, a former director of the Health Center from a suburb of the capital and a counselor from Hâncești district. The director of a gymnasium from Telenesti district was sanctioned because he did not declare and resolve in time a conflict of interests with a close person, and a mayor from Basarabeasca district received a contravention for violating ANI's activity.
In total, the integrity inspectors applied fines in the amount of 18 thousand lei, of which only 3000 lei were paid.
Two mayors from Ungheni and Anenii Noi districts complied with the ANI law and each declared a conflict of interest. The integrity inspector submitted a solution for each case.
ANI issued 10 Certificates of Integrity.
At the same time, the ANI representatives organized a training for the officials from the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, which was attended by over 80 people.
About 90 telephone consultations were given to the subjects of the declaration, and 23 calls were registered at the Institutional Information Line.
