In the week of July 26-30, 2021, the National Integrity Authority (ANI) initiated two assets controls regarding two judges. The two magistrates are from Chisinau and Comrat Courts. The control procedures were started, after the President of ANI initiated an ex-officio control based on a journalistic investigation, in which several judges with imposing fortunes were targeted. If violations would be found during the controls, ANI will communicate more details through press releases.
Two possible conflicts of interest are being investigated by integrity inspectors regarding a head of a subdivision subordinated to the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports of the Chisinau City Council and a councilor from the Sângera City Council in Chisinau. Local councilors from Cantemir and Soroca districts are also in the investigation procedure being investigated for incompatibility of office.
An interim director of a municipal enterprise and a councilor from Bălți municipality were sanctioned for not filing or late filing the declaration of assets and personal interests. A city mayor from the southeast of the republic will also be sanctioned for violating the rules on conflicts of interest. And, a public association from Ungheni district received a fine for obstructing the activity of ANI. In total, the integrity inspectors applied sanctions in the amount of 14 thousand lei.
Last week, ANI established two violations of ANI legislation - a conflict of interests admitted by a former mayor of Orhei district and an incompatibility of office of a mayor of Falesti district.
ANI lawyers defended the findings acts in 18 court hearings. ANI issued 16 Certificates of Integrity. In total, ANI representatives provided about 70 telephone consultations, of which 5 calls to the Institutional Information Line.
