In the week of December 6-10, 2021, the National Integrity Authority (ANI) initiated 3 control procedures to investigate possible conflicts of interest. The controls targeted two mayors from Drochia and Donduseni districts, as well as a civil servant with special status from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
Integrity inspectors refused to initiate checks in 18 cases. The inspectors' refusals include four mayors and two former mayors, a deputy director of a forest unit in Cahul district, a joint stock company director under the Public Property Agency, three local councilors, two civil servants with special status from the Police Inspectorate of Edineț and Căușeni, a former director of a hospital.
A conflict of interest has been identified regarding a former director of S.A. "FEE Nord" admitted a conflict of interest with his father, whom he hired as a driver. Two councilors from Cantemir and Straseni districts were fined for not submitting declaration of assets and personal interests and, respectively, for violating the legal regime of incompatibilities. Another contravention case was started on the non-submission of the assets declaration by a former civil servant with special status within the Edineț Police Inspectorate.
Eight conflicts of interest were solved by the integrity inspectors and five Certificates of Integrity were issued.
Three trainings were organized with the participation of over 270 subjects of the declaration. ANI representatives answered 118 telephone calls, of which 23 calls were registered at the Institutional Information Line.
ANI lawyers represented the institution's interests in 38 court hearings, of which three were the hearings on the confiscation of property. These include: a former Member of Parliament, a prosecuting officer and a former mayor.
